Resources are unevenly distributed across the survey sample, with the median budget amounting to just 13% of the mean. Moreover, organizations led by representatives of marginalized communities are among the least resourced in the sample.

Small and mid-sized organizations surveyed are reaching thousands of people with relatively limited resources. The median organization reaches around 18,000 people each year on a median budget of INR 1.6 crores. Top 5 of organizations in the sample account for 65% of the total reported reach.

57% of organizations in the sample describe their programmatic approach as gender-transformative, working to change the norms that drive inequality. Another 36% describe their work as gender-responsive, meaning they actively respond to the specific needs of women and girls. Together, more than 9 in 10 organizations are taking an intentional approach to their work in gender.
